Mouflon Chess Challenge April 2020: Michaelides vs Isaakidis

Today at 8 PM in the Mouflon Chess Challenge Finals we will see a battle between the top two rated players in Cyprus Konstantinos Michaelides and Alexandros Isaakidis. The match consists of six games of 5+3, incase of a tie another 5 games will be played with 3+2, and if still a tie then an Armageddon game!

The final match between Konstantinos Michaelides and Alexandros Isaakidis will be broadcasted live on our YouTube Channel with our great commentary team. We will be joined by Cyprus Chess Champion Ioannis Damianou. The commentary will be in English.


Konstantinos Michaelides

CM Konstantinos Michaelides is just 17 years old and is already a three-time Cyprus Chess Champion. He won the three titles in a row from 2016 until 2018. In 2016 he became the youngest player in Cyprus history to win the Cyprus Chess Championship breaking GM Andreas Kelires’ record. He is also currently no.1 in Cyprus.

Alexandros Isaakidis

Alexandros Isaakidis is currently ranked number 2 in Cyprus with 2211 FIDE Standard Rating (The ratings were updated 1 April 2020). Alexandros Isaakidis is participating in his first Cyprus Closed Chess Championship with the ultimate aim of winning the title. Last year in 2019 on top board for the Paphos Chess Club he led them to their maiden Cyprus Club Chess Championship title. 


Konstantinos Michaelides and Alexandros Isaakidis have played against each other only in FIDE Rated Rapid & Blitz games. They have played a total of 13 games. The score is 4 wins for Michaelides, 2 draws, and 7 wins for Isaakidis.
