Today in the Mouflon Chess Challenge 3-time Cyprus Chess Champion Konstantinos Michaelides and Michalis Nichlos will battle over a six game match for a place in the Semi-Finals at 8 PM!

The third quarter-final match between Konstantinos Michaelides and Michalis Nichlos will be broadcasted live on our YouTube Channel with our great commentary team. The reigning Cyprus Chess Champion Ioannis Damianou will be joining us today in the commentary. The commentary will be mainly in English.

Konstantinos Michaelides

CM Konstantinos Michaelides is just 17 years old and is already a three-time Cyprus Chess Champion. He won the three titles in a row from 2016 until 2018. In 2016 he became the youngest player in Cyprus history to win the Cyprus Chess Championship breaking GM Andreas Kelires’ record. He is also currently no.1 in Cyprus.

Michalis Nichlos

Michalis Nichlos is an entertaining Greek chess player with his impressive sacrifices who lives in Nicosia. At the Cyprus Open Chess Championship 2020 he played two really brilliant games, the first one against WFM Maria-Anna Stefanidi which he won and another one against Sergey Kochergin in which he sacrificed two rooks and missed a mate and lost in the end.

Konstantinos Michaelides and Michalis Nichlos have not played against each other any official FIDE Rated Game. If you compare their ratings to find out the predicted score it is a bit above 5.5-0.5. Anyway this match will be really interesting as Michalis Nichlos has a very interesting playing style in which he sacrifices material at ease.
