Tomorrow the Mouflon Chess Challenge May 2020 will feature reigning Cyprus Chess Champion CM Ioannis Damianou against Kemal Yildirim. The match will be held at 8 PM on the lichess server.

The second Quarter-Final match between Cyprus Chess Champion CM Ioannis Damianou and Kemal Yildirim will be broadcasted live on our YouTube Channel with our great commentary team.

CM Ioannis Damianou

CM Ioannis Damianou is currently the reigning Cyprus Chess Champion. Currently ranked number 4 in Cyprus with 2202 FIDE Standard Rating (The ratings were updated 1 April 2020). He has participated in one chess olympiad in 2018 in Batumi in which he obtained his CM title. He won the Cyprus Chess Championship last year with 8.5/9 equalling the record set by GM Andreas Kelires. This year he won the Cyprus Open also by 8.5/9.

Kemal Yildirim

Hi, my name is Kemal Yildirim and I am 14 years old. I am from Nicosia, North Cyprus. I started playing chess when I was 8 years old. I have 1735 FIDE rating and 1903 national rating. I am currently a member of Nicosia Chess Club in North Cyprus. I have participated in many international tournaments such as in Germany, Austria and Serbia. In 2019 & 2020, I competed in Turkish Cup as a part of national team. In Cyprus, I competed in bicommunial tournaments in Ledra Palace, 1st International Chess Tournament in Larnaka. I became U13 North Cyprus chess champion in 2019 and U14 2nd place in 2020.
