Bravo Intellect School and Let’s Learn Together – Cyprus are organizing together the third chess tournament of the Mouflon Chess Tour on 16th of February at Bravo Intellect School in Limassol. The tournament is open to all young chess players under the age of 16. The event will be played in two different age categories Under 16 and Under 6.
Matvei Lavrishchev grabs Youth Rapid
Thirty Five young chess players from Famagusta, Larnaca, Nicosia, and Paphos spent their school holiday on the 30th of January participating in the 1st tournament of the Mouflon Chess Tour 2020 at the Cafeteria of the G C School of Career Secondary School. Matvei Lavrishchev finished atop the standings on 5 out of 5. Thomas Hadjichristoforou and Ermogenis Pataisias won the Under 10 & Under 8 Categories respectively.
Mouflon Chess Tour 2020 - Youth Rapid
The Mouflon Chess Tour 2020 – Youth Rapid was held at the G C School of Careers Secondary School Cafeteria on the 30th of January. Matvei Lavrishchev topped the Open Youth Section, with a final score of 5/5.
Matvei is a 9-year-old upcoming young star from Paphos Chess Club. He is currently the 5th highest-rated U10 player in Cyprus. At the last Cyprus Youth Chess Championship (U10) he came third.
In second and third place came Achilles B Miller and Danai Miltiadou. Achilles took the second place due to his victory against Danai in the third round.
In the Under 10 section we saw 6 players participate in total, so the tournament was changed from Swiss System to Round Robin. Thomas Hadjichristoforou and George Tatas were at the top with 4 out of 5. Thomas took first due to winning their direct encounter.
The Under 8 section saw 13 players compete for the three trophies. In the end the more experienced Ermogenis Pataisias took first with a perfect 5 out of 5. Second place went to a new young player from Larnaca Andreas Karaolis. And the third place was taken by a student of G C School of Careers Andreas Valiantis.
